1) Lord of the Rings

>And you can live a holy life without sin and
>trying to justify that which is not of God.

You had me until the last line of your unsigned response to the Lord of
the Rings question, I am glad you can live a holy and sinless life, I
would love to meet you! No other Christian I know of including my self
claims to be without sin, I am a poor miserable sinner who relies on the
saving blood of Jesus everyday.

2) God's Army VBS?

I am the coordinator for VBS at my church and we would like to put
together our own curriculum this year for VBS.  The theme we want to use
is God's Army.  Any help or ideas that anyone can give me would be greatly
appreciated.  We have our VBS the 2nd week of July.  The kids have had
time to get bored and are ready for it. We only have it for 3 days. This
will be our 9th year to do it this way and the success has been totally
awesome.  I looked for a publisher who might be using this theme but found
no one.

3) Worship banners for children?

I hope someone can help me.  I was in a local Bible book store and saw a
book on making worship banners for children.  It had some good designs in
it.  At the time, I was unable to buy it.  I wrote the name of it down so
that I could get it later, but lost my note.  I am planning on using the
ideas in Sarah's curriculum "His Name Shall Be Called..." but would also
like to find the book that I had seen in the book store.  Does anyone know
of any other resources for making banners with children?

Amazing Miracles of the Bible

God’s glory and love are revealed through the miracles he performed and
were fully realized when he came to earth in the form of a man to save
mankind. By studying the miracles of the Bible children will gain a better
understanding of God’s love and faithfulness and how he continues to be
loving and faithful in miraculous ways to his people today. Works with
rotation-type programs!

4) Appropriate Age for "Passion of Christ" Movie?

I have a 9 year old daughter and I was wondering if the movie "The
Passion"
would be appropriate for her to see.

--from SSTN: it is rated "R" because of the violent scenes (crucifixion
was violent). Maybe you should see it first, then decide.

5) Alpha & Omega Lesson & Game

Have you ever heard someone say something like this, "You can find
everything in that store from A to Z!" What do you think that means? It
means that store would have everything you could possibly want to buy. The
Bible contains a similar saying for God. In the book of Revelation 22:13,
it says, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the
Beginning and the End." The book of Revelation was originally written in
Greek. The Greek alphabet begins with the letter Alpha, and ends with the
letter, Omega. Just like the A and the Z in our alphabet. The Alpha looks
like our letter "A", and the Omega looks sort of like an upside down "U".
This verse is referring to Jesus as the Alpha and the Omega. It tells us
that Jesus was here before time began, and he’ll be here after time ends.
Jesus is eternal.

6) How Jesus is powerful?

Hi, I want to ask for help about teaching the powerful words of Jesus. The
story is from the Bible, when Jesus calmed the storm (Mark 4:35-41) and
Jesus healed the crazy man from Gerasa (Mark 5:1-20). I want to teach this
popular stories in a new variation, so the children won`t be bored, but
until now I can't figure it out. Thanks for the help!

7) Appreciation ideas

In our church our younger children coulour a small picture of Noah's ark
and inderneath is printed
Thanks you from the children in God's Gang.
This is laminated and then they stick a magnet on the back. They are given
to people we want to thank. Another idea in this line is a picture with
welcome to our church from the children in God'Gang to be given to
newcomers.
Hope this helps. Kind regards Margaret Carey (Australia)

9) Game for teaching living word

Hi,
I want to share about teaching my students how does the Bible
really useful in their lives. I was thinked how it can be excited, not
just a usual lesson that can be boring for them.
The teaching was a game named B.I.B.L.E. It's stands for in Indonesian:
Beritakan Injil Bagi Lubby Edward, when translated in English: Tell the
Bible for Lubby Edward. You can figure out yourself what the game should
be called.
My students were 9-11 years old. In our class, there was 15 students. So,
I divided them into 3 groups.
This is how the principles of the game. Each group called "B.I.B.L.E team"
1,2, and 3. Each team tried to be helper for Lubby Edward, a child, in his
daily lives. They were given a list of bible verses. The teacher told the
story about Lubby, then the story stopped when Lubby got a problem. Each
team competed to find the most relevant bible verses that can help Lubby
to solve the problem. The first team that gave the right answer, got 10
points; but if it's wrong, minus 10 points. Then, the story continues
until the next problem, so on. The team that collected the biggest points
won the game.
For an example: The story begins in the morning. Lubby supposed to go to
school, but he won`t get up from the bed. What bible verse that can make
Lubby get up? Each team tried to find the right answer. Then, the story
continues at school. Michael, Lubby's best friend, shared about his mother
who got cancer. He was very sad. How can Lubby helped his best friend with
a word from God? Check it on your bible right away! Then the story
continues, so on.
In the end, the teacher gave a short discussion that the game taught us to
understand how the bible is the living word of God that can help you and
others in daily lives. So, let's read and remember the bible every day!
This is the living word of our God!
It was exciting for them. The teachers in other classes got a same result
too. So, I hope it will be useful for others. I really appreciate if you
have a critic or a better modification. God bless you,

Yohanes (from Indonesia)
