1) Books of the Bible song?

I recently heard of song that names the books of the bible.  Does anyone
know where I can find this song or where I can get a copy of it.  My
Sunday school class is trying to learn the books of the bible.  I have a
couple of games that we play that seem to be working but would really like
this song too I think that would be a lot of fun.

2) Bulletin boards for 05'

How about part of the bulletin board being designated for new births?
Design a birth certificate with the pertinent information and copy them in
pink and blue and then fill in the information.

I also did bulletin boards using a seashell pattern and writing the name
of
the person who was baptized and the date.

You can also do new family members, keep up to date information on members
in the military, in the summer, a list of children at summer camp, when
and
where and their mailing address and encourage others to write them.

Hope this starts the thinking!

3) Craft books

I just read the newsletter where the lady needed names of craft books for
her class. Please tell her that she can go to her local christian store
i'm not sure if wal-mart will have them or not but there is a seires of
books called crafting on a shoestring for all ages and then there is one
called bible stories about jesus put out by radiant books.
Thanks and God Bless,
Teresa Oakes

4) Seven days of creation

Maurice Sweetsur submitted a wonderful lesson on this subject entitled,
"God's Plan For Man". You may find it in the "Sermons and Object Lessons"
section at:  http://www.ChristianCrafters.Com

Maurice is a regular contributor to SSTN. He has developed a blog page of
his lessons. The blog-link can be found on the "God's Plan For Man" page.

5) Spanish material for mission trip?

Help:  Anyone out there have any ideas for Spanish materials I can
use on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic?   Specifically, puppet
shows?  I would like to concentrate on using animals to bring in a
Christian witness but any ideas would be welcomed.
Thanks.

6) Christmas Under Attack

When I stated
"It isn't Jesus' birthday, it isn't mentioned in the bible, the apostles
didn't celebrate it, yet we fight for it tooth and nail..."

you replied

"I don't understand what you mean by Jesus' birthday not being mentioned
in
the Bible. Matthew and Luke give vivid accounts of his birthday."

I think you misunderstood me, the "IT" I was referring to is Christmas.
And yes, Matthew and Luke give vivid accounts of His BIRTH but I don't see
any accounts of the apostles then celebrating the day of His birth later
on.  We are instructed to remember His death, and His life, but we aren't
told to celebrate His birthday.  There are no accounts of Jesus
celebrating His own birthday.

My point is not 'don't celebrate birthdays' or even 'don't celebrate
Christmas'.  My point is that we Christians get so worked up over the
Christ being taken out of Christmas that we forget that WE, not God, are
the ones who put Him there in the first place.  If you can give me a
sound,
biblically based argument that defends the importance of the "true
Christmas Spirit" then by all means, please do.  I would love to have
one.  I don't think there is anything wrong with celebrating Christmas,
Romans 14:5-6. However, I DO think that we need to be careful that what we
stand up for as Christians is directly of God, and not just our
traditions.

I am really not trying to be offensive or contrary here, and you do have
some very good points, Sarah.  The retail industry could use a good wake
up
call.  Home made gifts mean so much more!  I just want to give a different
viewpoint.  I pray this comes across in a loving, non-judgemental way.

In Him, Kristine Bell

--from SSTN:
Dear Kristine: First, I thank you and appreciate your comments. I
encourage you and everyone else in SSTN to state their viewpoints. This is
how we learn. ;o) The point I was trying to make really isn't about saving
retail or even the Christmas holiday. It was about the "irony" of the
retail industry and public officials pushing Christ out of the "Winter
Holidays" when it is Christmas that made this time of year so lucrative
for them in the first place.

The bigger issue for me is the removal of Jesus Christ from our culture
throughout the year. As stated before, two of my children were forced
to memorize the doctrines of Buddhism in public school and at the same
time my third child was being told not to say, "the child" in her school's
"Winter Program". When I questioned the school officials about forcing my
children to learn the doctrines of Buddhism (and I mean doctrines,
not descriptions) they thought it was perfectly appropriate. However, when
I asked them if they were going to teach the doctrines of Christianity or
Jesus' most famous sermon, The Sermon on the Mount, they said of course
not, that would be against the law. They did tell me that the Ten
Commandments would be taught later in the year. However, they never got
around to teaching it. Because of this kind of blatant discrimination, I
think it is imperative that Christians LOVINGLY speak out by making our
views known to public officials, point out their inconsistencies and
defend our rights under the law. And in the case of retail merchants that
discriminate, take our business elsewhere.

Again, I thank you for your comments. I don't consider you to be
argumentative or contrary. :o)

7) Crafts For 6-8th grade?

I am a Sunday School teacher for 6, 7 & 8th graders.  I'm pretty new at
this. I am used to preschoolers.  I enjoy crafts and wish to use them in
my class. My only problem is finding pertinent crafts for these preteens.
If anyone knows of a book of crafts specifically for this age group I'd
appreciate the information.  I also wouldn't be opposed to any tips the
Spirit might be leading you to give me.

In Christian love
Tara Burke

--from SSTN: I have found with this age group (12-14 year olds),
especially if mixed with boys, you should only use a few crafts throughout
the year. If you have a class of girls, then crafts go over well. I have
also found that games are an effective way to reach boys. Therefore, I mix
up my lessons with a variety of activities that includes crafts, games and
skits. For materials, check out our Bookstore, Christian Education, Games
and Crafts sections at:  http://www.christiancrafters.com/bookstore.html

8) Building our Children's Faith

Our Sunday Kids Club was trying to find a way to purchase bibles for our
children. I came upon an idea and wanted to share with everyone. First, we
had to find an affordable price for the bible which we wanted to purchase.
We decided on purchasing the Adventure Bible for Young Readers and decided
to hold a fund raiser with the congregation. Our fundraiser will be called
"Building our Childrens Faith" and all of our teachers will be dressing
like construction workers. (I work full time in construction so this will
help!) We will be having an outline of a cross on the wall in the church.
The cross will be "built" with paper "bricks" and each "brick" will be the
cost of a bible. The bibles are $13.19 each. We will be starting this in
January and I have been putting out the word that this is coming for about
2 months now. I already have people asking when they can bring in their
donations! Just thought I would pass this along....

9) Wise Man Costume Problem

Take a piece of fabric, fold in half. Cut a hole in the center for the
head, and cut it several inches straight down the back.  Pull over head
and put a sash around the middle. I use this a lot with kids.  Camouflage
material for soldiers, baby fabric for a baby, etc. Works great.
