1) Giving Banks
>Does anyone have an idea for a craft that would emphasize "The Gift of

What a great idea! The first thing that comes to my mind to use for this
craft would be toilet paper and paper towel rolls (cut in half). Everyone
uses these products and they are easy to save for crafts such as this one.
They are also easy to decorate with paper, leftover wallpaper, contact
paper, markers, stickers, etc. Good Luck! Renee in Georgia
Another good idea is to use "Pringles" Potato chips cans or round Oatmeal
containers. These will easily tape together with lids to keep the money
secure and easily removed. A good idea is to label the banks as tithe,
spending, saving . It is a good idea to get kids used to those words. It
would also be good if some of us adults would learn those words and
principles also. Larry Burkett has some other really good ideas on his web

and why Christian's should not celebrate it.

3) Christian pumpkin carvings

I saw in a magazine last year and will do this year a properly shaped pumpkin for Bob and one for Larry (Veggie Tales) and they were painted the appropriate colors with the face painted on also, I have some Veggie Tale pictures that I will use to copy the look of the face!

4) Why Christian's shouldn't celebrate Halloween
Consider this: Have you ever fully pictured in your mind how Christ must have looked on the day he was crucified after being beaten and tortured... he was beaten beyond recognition as a human.... the agony that he suffered... how horribly and wrathfully Satan unleashed all his powers on our Lord before he died... Now, with that picture in mind, how could anyone who loves the Lord make "light" of his sacrifice of dying for us by dressing up "for fun" on Halloween and celebrating/honoring Satan, death, and the power of darkness. Halloween is not cute and it is not harmless. It is deceptive, and it is a slap in the face to our Lord and God. Some folks think this is a "heavy" message for children, but the message needs to be taught clearly without dumbing down to them. The Bible clearly warns against magic and sorcery and witchcraft, all of which are common symbols and even party-games at Halloween time. The world wants to dishonor our Lord and God. As Christians we are responsible to rise to a higher standard. You don't need to know all the history of the holiday; you just need to ask yourself "Does it honor God, or not?"

6) Christian Pumpkin Designs
In addition to the Jack-o-Lanterns and Halloween, as a child we always carved pumpkins. Since I was raised in a Christian home we would carve something spiritual like a cross. You still have the fun, but you give it to Jesus not to Satan!

8) Looking for ideas? (King Hezekiah and Nebuchadnezzar)
I teach Sunday School to seven 7 year olds. I am looking for ideas for
teaching about King Hezekiah and Nebuchadnezzar's dream. I also teach
ages 5-12 yr olds at our church's Friday night youth circle. I am
looking for ideas on Jacob and Esau that would accommodate these ages.
Any fresh ideas would be greatly appreciated!

9) Christmas Songs
> Every year our Sunday School has a special Christmas Program. I am looking
> for some Christmas Songs for the children to sing to the church.
I have had the privilege of working with our Children's Choir for the last few
years! (All 6-10 of them) The first year we did several regular songs "Come on
Ring Those Bells" - "Go Tell It on the Mountain" -etc... But the best part was at
the end we had a soloist sing "Happy Birthday Jesus" the choir came in on the
chorus and on the last chorus they parted to a manger scene behind them with the
4 year olds. Then they sang "Holy Ground". Even in practice the children seemed
to experience a real sense of worship at this time. Just think of the words "We
are standing on Holy ground and I know that there are angels all around" Can't
you just see the angels all around this little group of children?
This year we have a little girl that wants to sing but just can't seem to sit
still, so I am going to figure that into the program. We will have a manger scene
set up minus actors and baby. When we come in she will look for the baby then say
"Where's the baby?" the other girls will shush her. Then we will have readings
from Luke along with songs and after each reading she will look up at the reader
and say "But, where's the baby?" Of course people will wonder if this is part of
the program as everyone shushes her. And at the end we will have a baby(doll) and
one of the older girls will tell her "hey Morgan, here's the baby" and she will
run and hug the baby. And then we will have someone say "Morgan found the baby
and when she found it what did she do? She embraced the baby. Have you embraced
the baby, with all you have inside you have you embraced the baby." Or something
like that I'm still working on the ending. I think this will work.
We use split track recordings available at Christian bookstores. And be sure and
look in the children's CD's for the cheaper CD's that are split track. I've found
them for $7.00 that will have all the songs you need on them.
