2) For Mother's Day

Hello all; Thank you, Sarah, for a wonderful place to share ideas. I just
finished having an afternoon with our children. They came to my house
after school and we spent the afternoon making cookies to give to all the
ladies (not JUST mothers) at church. We put 4 cookies on each small plate
and covered well with saran wrap. They then made a card for each lady
from construction paper using stickers, markers and cut outs from old
cards that I had. Since I only have 5 children in Children's Ministry and
2 teen helpers, I could do this in my own kitchen - we just took turns
making the cookie dough. Have a wonderful weekend and week to come. Toye
(Alberta, Canada)

--from SSTN: Hi Toye, sorry your posting didn't make it in for Mother's
Day...but it will be in the 'Archives List' for next year! ;o)) YSIC,
Sarah <><

VOLUNTARY SUBSCRIPTION.......WHY?

SSTN has a voluntary subscription so that no one, or no church, is left

year subscription, (that's only one dollar per month), you will help me
keep SSTN alive. Your webservant, Sarah Keith.

www.ChristianCrafters.Com ......or read more at the end of this
newsletter under the heading, 'Voluntary Subscription'.

3) Beth Moore Bible Study

We are a small Baptist church and do not have the funds to purchase the
Leader's Kit to go with the Beth Moore Bible studies. We have borrowed
from a bigger church in our area, and we also have checked with our State
Convention to see if they could help us locate the kit. As it turns out,
they have the kits for churches to borrow, so we are on the list to use
one now. I HIGHLY recommend these studies-we have done two of them at our
church so far, and the women are anxiously awaiting another. She has
truly been given a precious gift from God and will motivate you to dig in
His word and grow as a Christian. Don't give up looking-check with your
State Office and with larger churches in your area. It is well worth the
effort!! Angie

4) Free Award Certificates

If you know anyone who has a Print Shop program, they have so pretty good
certificates. Have a Great Day! Carol

5) Summer Theme: Sports/Cheerleading?

Hi! Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy this newsletter it has been
so helpful. I am looking for some ideas for the summer. Our small church
usually does not have a VBS so we opt to do a summer theme. We let the
kids suggest us some of their ideas on what they wanted to do and they
have come up with something dealing with sports and cheerleading. Can
anyone out there please give me some ideas that might tie in with any of
this? Thanks so much! Donna E. From N.C.

--from SSTN: Paul's instructions on 'running the race' would be a great
Bible theme to focus on. See: 1 Corinthians 9: 24-27.

6) Pentecost Skit?

Dear Sarah, I was wondering if you or anyone has a great skit idea for
Pentecost? Thank you for this awesome site and all the hard work you do to
keep it up! In His Love, C.Fulbright:)

--from SSTN: thank you for your words of encouragement. I don't have a
skit, maybe someone else will. In the meantime, check out the 'Pentecost
Spinners' in the Craft Section of the site. YSIC, sarah. <><

7) SAIL BOATS

We used this at one of our earliteen group meetings, but it will work well
for all ages. (smaller ones with help)

We took bananas, peeled them, cut a piece from the bottom, so that they
could stand. This is the body of the boat. Then we took skewer sticks, cut
paper into the shape of sails, stuck it to the sticks and stuck the sails
into the banana. You could have the kids write something on the sails.

Take vanilla instant dessert. Colour it with blue food coloring. Put this
into a bowl, make your banana boat stand in the dessert sea and put a
coconut cluster in the bowl for a rock. The teens enjoyed this and eating
it also! Liezl, Orange Grove Family Church, Gauteng, South Africa.

8) Backyard Bible Club

>I am thinking of doing a "Backyard Bible Club" this summer for my 6-year

Gina, Child Evangelism Fellowship is the best source of materials for this
type of ministry. I don't know where you are, but we are near Cleveland
and they have offices in that area. I would think you could find them on
the internet too. Bill Caughlin- Director of Children's Ministry
"True Education is Education of the Heart"

Jill - from Nashville, TN also wrote to say:
Child Evangelism Fellowship has GREAT materials for summer Bible clubs for
all ages. I grew up going to them and have taught them as an adult.
Their website is: www.gospelcom.net/cef

9) House Blessing?

Hi, I just love this site. I enjoy reading my newsletter each day.
I am looking for guidelines for a House Blessing. I have seen one in a
magazine, but have lost it. When someone moves into a new home, a group
will come and pray through your entire home. If anyone has any
information, please post or send directly to Joyce at biljoyce@alaweb.com
God Bless, Joyce

--from SSTN: please remember to copy to SSTN, if you respond directly, the
rest of SSTN doesn't benefit from your knowledge.

10) Coffee can craft?

I wondered if anyone had any ideas for crafts to do using 12-14 oz. coffee
cans. Thankyou.

<>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <><

11) Wooden crafts?

I am searching for ideas for crafts made from wood. Our community is
holding a Market Place V.B.S. so we need simple ideas for carpentry. Our
children range from 3 years to 8th grade. We plan on about 70 children.
We plan on the children making hammers one day but need some ideas on what
they can make with their hammers the other 3 days. Any ideas? Please let
me know soon. Thanks, Rhonda Lockwood-Swea City, Ia 50590

--from SSTN: I seem to recall that last summer there were postings
relating to market place VBS programs. Try searching the 'Archives List'
at: ChristianCrafters.Com

12) Backyard Bible Club

Here is what we did in our back yard. We had the children collect flat
rocks. Spray painted them with quick drying white paint. The children use
their fingers in colored ink pads to make flowers. Then we used a
permanent marker to write their favorite bible verse, or type them up on
paper and glue them on. Then a coat of quick drying acrylic. I have had
their rock in my flower garden for a while. They can also be used as paper
weights or to decorate a plant dish. Have fun, We did.
