1) Fathers Day idea

Thank you Sarah for this wonderful newsletter.
To Sylvia of Halifax, for the past 5 yrs or so our church has been
Mothers day & Fathers day breakfasts.4 weeks before the event notes are
sent home with a menu attached, the Father/mother fills in their choice
and returns the menu, allowing efficient catering. On the day the parent
arrives at Sunday school time and sits with the children and partakes in
the opening ceremony, then a guest speaker shares a brief word or personal
testimony. Then each parent is presented with some craft the child has
made,eg, a photo of the child glued to a cardboard frame that the child
has decorated. The children then move to another area for a barbeque while
the adults are served at tables by the older children.
We have found these breakfasts very effective in bringing unsaved parents
and non-church folk under the sound of the Gospel and the children love to
see their parents in Sunday school. yours in Christ, Rob Newlyn.

Sunday School Specials (Vol. 1-4), has quick and easy Bible lessons for
combined ages! A lifesaver for small churches that combine multiple aged
groups! Great for large churches that host family nights, and small groups
with kids to entertain. You can get all four books in the 'Christian
Education' section of the Bookstore at: ChristianCrafters.Com

2) An Evening with Esther

I am a Jr High Youth leader. We are going to be doing an Evening with
Esther with the 7th and 8th grade girls. I have asked the Women's
Ministry
at the church to take this on as a service project. We will have the
older
women of the church teaching the younger of the church on some of the
disciplines of Beautiful Woman, both inside and outside. We have it
scheduled for August any more Esther ideas would be appreciated. Thank
you
and God Bless! Sheri, Melbourne, FL

--from SSTN: I LOVE IT! sarah

3) Fundraiser?

I like the idea of renting the Skating rink as a Fundraiser. I am also
looking for successful fundraisers for our Jr High Youth Group. Any other
ideas would be appreciated! I like to focus on 2 big fundraisers a year,
rather than several smaller ones through out the year.
Thank you once again. God's Blessings, Sheri, Melbourne FL

--from SSTN: you will not believe how many wonderful ideas have been
shared in previous SSTNs. Find them in the 'Archives List' at:

4) VBS and kids materials

For those who are not intimidated by the idea, sometimes you can pick up
VBS materials for cheap on eBay.com. Just search for "VBS". Just
recently there was a lot that included "Jesus to the Rescue" and other VBS
materials for $10. Also, if you search for "Bible Books" there are lots
of listings for kids coloring books and other activity books. If you are
diligent in checking fairly regularly, you can get good materials at good
prices. Sally in Wichita

am looking for any Father's Day crafts for this age group? Thank you!

NEW-LIFE PUPPET patterns

Once assembled, these puppets turn inside out to change from a tadpole to
frog, or a caterpillar to butterfly. Easy to make and children will learn
about becoming new creatures in Christ! Get a free puppet skit to go with
the puppets at: www.ChristianCrafters.Com In our Curriculum section

6) SS Curriculum?

We have low attendance rates for children in our SS classes at the 4th and
5th grade level and also our middle school class (6th - 8th grade). While
many things are being looked at, we think our current curriculum is not
appealing to the children. Would any recommend a curriculum they have
used that has worked well with these age groups?

Sarah - this site is such a blessing! Thanks for your time and effort in
this wonderful ministry! Terri Satterwhite, Monticello UMC, Shawnee, KS

--from SSTN: dear Terri, thank you for your encouraging words...please
continue to pray for me to trust God to provide all the resources to
continue. I teach 5/6 grade SS. As to curriculum, we use the Gospel Light
program. I think it is good because it involves hands on activities
through games and crafts which reinforce the Bible lesson. We tried
Disciple Land last year, but found it to be complicated and a lot like
'school work'. If you contact gospellight.com let them know how you
found out about them. ;o) YSIC, sarah <><

7) VBS crafts - CD mirror?

Does anyone have any VBS crafts ideas on using old CD's like a mirror?
One
of our lessons this year talk about a mirror and we thought we could use
these, just looking for some good ideas. Thanks Joyce, Iowa

--from SSTN: Joyce, check out the "Reflecting Christ Mirror" in the Crafts
section at ChristianCrafters.com. Your webservant, Sarah Keith <><

8) Skate Night Fundraiser

> I am a teacher for our Jr. Girls 10-12. We do Skate
> Night for fundraisers, we rent the entire rink, have standard

In regards to your question about other activities, a good idea might be
to have a family oriented skate day. You could do things like simple
relay races where each member has to do something different and the first
family done is declared the winner. Also it
might be a good idea to have a hot chocolate stand, etc.... I hope this
really helps you out. M. Hodgson - O.S. Ontario

flannel graph. They will need to be on-line.I've already looked at John
