Unchurched pre-teens?

Besides activities such as games, crafts and skits, what is the best way of
presenting the Bible story itself to unchurched pre-teens - many who are
hearing the story for the very first time. Would you suggest: story
telling, reading the story to the children, having the children read the
story along with you or reading the Bible story directly out of the Bible.

Does anyone know the Bible verses that goes with the praying hands (below)
for each finger?

> INTERCESSORY PRAYER
>
> Grades 1-6
> Here's how I teach children to pray using their own two hands: - the
> Prayer Hand and the Intercession Hand.
>
> The fingers on the PRAYER HAND are:
>
> Thank
> Confess
> Intercede [use the "Intercession Hand"]
> Ask
> Praise
>
> INTERCESSION HAND [to intercede means "to pray for"]
>
> PINKIE [the weakest] - sick & unsaved
> RING FINGER [those I love] - family & friends
> TALL FINGER - leaders [church, school, gov't]
> POINTER - missionaries, [those who "point" people to Christ]
> THUMB - me

Thanks for the ideas:

I just wanted to say thanks for the ideas that everyone has supplied for me.
When I asked my question about finding activities for the wide age range, I
never thought that I'd be able to work them in. But this past Sunday I
tried the jelly bean activity and the Bingo game and to my amazement the
kids really liked it. In fact they wanted to stay longer, but church was
starting. Thanks again for all of the suggestions!

Mother's day gift:

Our combined grade Sunday school (grades 1-5) is looking for a nice Mother's
day gift to make for the moms.
Any ideas?
Thanks and blessings.

Public School Religion:

>>Christy, I am intrigued that Ohio has a course for 'Public School Religion'.
>>Please tell us more about it? It sounds amazing!

It does not mean that we are teaching religion during school hours. PSR is
a religion class held every Monday evening for the students who attend our
public schools so that they too have the opportunity to learn about God. We
use St. Thomas the Apostle School and each teacher has one grade level, and,
while using a regular classroom, provides a Catholic Education for those
children. We teach grades K and up, and they also have a youth group that
meets on Monday evenings.

I teach the 3rd Grade and have a wonderful group of children. It is one of
the more awarding things I have done with my life! I am the teacher but I
have to be honest and say I leave that room every Monday enlightened and
more aware. Those children have given me so much! For Holy Week - each
group of children took a day from Palm Sunday thru to Easter. There was
about 3 children to a group - I printed the Holy Week Poems on the top of
each day and in those groups they had to read (either in their books on in
the bible) and illustrate their page of our book. Then each group took
turns being the "teacher" for the day and they had to teach the rest of us
what they learned! They loved it! How the view things and are able to
communicate it to one another is amazing!

God Bless
Christy

Mothers' Day Craft/Devotion?

My name is Trisha and I have a Sunday School class with Pre K - 2nd graders. I am planning a special class on Mothers' Day. We will send invitations to each of the children's Mothers to join us in our classroom on Mothers' Day.. I'm thinking of hosting a small brunch with the children serving their mothers. I would like some ideas on a short devotion and/or crafts the children could make before hand to give to their mothers. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.

To God be the Glory!
