--> -July 4 Activity... USA Patriotic Catcher

With the "USA Patriotic Catcher Toy" kids learn the answers to eight basic
USA citizenship questions such as, "Why did the Pilgrims come to
America?"; What is the US Constitution?, and "What does the First
Amendment guarantee?". A great activity for July 4th! Kids can make it and
take it home! Print out as many patterns as you need for a onetime nominal
fee.

1) Lock-In

This is for the person that is interested in doing a lock in.  Our church
closes out our vacation bible school with a lock in.  We play games,
fingerpaint, watch movies and have snacks.  Last year the older children
played fear factor.  They loved it.  We also have water games and the
children get to have fun with water guns(they bring their own).  Some of
the youth leaders really get into this part.  Some of the games we play
are the limbo, a hoola hoop contest, go fish(for the younger ones) and
bible trivia. One year, with the help of the community, we did a scavenger
hunt.  I hope this helps a little.

2) Beach Blast theme?

Our church is doing the Beach Blast theme for VBS.  Does anyone have any
ideas for decorating, crafts and games?

--from SSTN: here are some prop ideas:
beach sand, palm trees pictures, silk), beach balls, buckets and shovels,
colorful beach towels and blankets, sun, surfboards, sun glasses, rafts,
floats, and inner tubes. Pineapples, oranges, fruity drinks.

3) Father's Day Poem

Ooo - I hope this makes it in time for Father's Day. God sent the poem to
my heart just yesterday (6/12) - so I couldn't have gotten it to you
sooner. But maybe it can help someone for next year.

Daddies are hard to find a small gift for. I thought the best gift Dad
could have was to make a special memory with his child - so that is where
the poem idea came from.
Granted - it is a bit late in the season to think about planting seeds -
but I started some late in June one year and they were up and blooming in
plenty of time to enjoy them in late summer. AND consider the thought that
it is NEVER too late to plant some sweet memories for Dad' and their
children.

I printed out this poem in a kid style font and attached it to a packet of
flower seeds for the children to give Dad. Hope this helps someone else
too.

Daddy here are some seeds
that I need your help to plant
I hope you aren't too busy.
Please don't tell me that you can't.
Because the time that we'll spend together
digging in the dirt
Will mean so very much to me
and might even heal my hurts.

The flowers  that I gave to Mommy
 have already  bloomed and grown
But Daddy, I'd like to see our seeds grow
and beautify our home.
So will you work with me Daddy
and spend some time with me?
Can we We plant these  seeds together
and grow some memories?

Joyfully Serving HIM,
Emmalea Butler

4) Youth Network?

Hi!

I just love this helpful network and have used so many of your ideas.  I
also work with the teens at our church as the youth director and was
wondering if anyone knew of a youth network out there.  Thank you!

God bless you all for your willingness to share your creativity and
helpfulness!

Amy

5) Ideas for 8-13 yr. old

I used to teach this age and found a great site on
www.calvarychapel.org/children/site/curriculum.htm .  I now use the lesson
plans on this site for a kids' bulletin.  They will send you free CDs of
what is online.  It offers 7 pages including questions about each story,
coloring pages, word searches, crosswords.  I use the half fold card
selection on my print program and just scan the lessons and lay them out
in a book form.  It has lots of stories from both the Old and New
Testament.

Psalm 23: The LORD Is My Shepherd VBS

This complimentary five day VBS series can also be used in
10-12 one hour class sessions. A great resource for summer Bible clubs!

6) Memorizing Verses

Repetition, repetition, repetition! Check out some of the
memory techniques in the "Lord Is My Shepherd VBS" on the
Lessons & Sermons page at:

7) Sugar Daddys' Poem

This message is for Angie in WV who suggested giving out giant Sugar
Daddy's. What a great idea! You could put a little poem with them to make
them even more special. The poem could be something short and sweet, and
go something like:

My daddy is special
My daddy is sweet
When it comes to fun and games
My daddy can't be beat.
My daddy is special
My daddy is kind
When it comes to helping others,
My daddys always kind.
My daddy is sweet,
My daddy is great
When it comes to loving God
My daddy helps me celebrate!

Thanks for the awesome idea!
Love in Christ,
Sarah in California

8) Beatitudes

For the "Bee Atitudes" Theme you could copy bees on yellow paper for
decorations. Have them laminated. You could type the various attitudes
that people display on the bees. For example, be kind, be happy, be
joyful, be honest, be loving. You could cut out a large Bee Hive with
yellow postor board and laminate. Use a black magic marker for drawing the
lines need on the bee hive. Use this as an offering contest. Give the boys
orange bees and the girls yellow bees.  A great song to sing with this
theme is called "Work On Your Attitudes". Use an object lesson for each of
the character words discussed each week. Choose a bible story to reenforce
each trait.

--from SSTN: if you choose to go with a "Bee Theme" check out the
"Bee-Liever" Bible Verses in the Buzzing Bees section at:

9) Father's Day Lighthouse

This year we're giving all the fathers a small lighthouse (found at most
dollar stores). We printed up tags that say, "You're a strong tower and a
shining light through the storms of life."

10) Outer Space Theme

>We have decided to write our own VBS material this summer.  We are doing
>theme on "Space".  The stories, skits and lessons are going well but we
>are interested in ideas for the crafts with a "Outer Space" theme

A great theme song is :  "Somewhere In Outer Space" You may still be able
to purchase a rocket bulltetin board set at an education center. You can
hang starts from the ceiling and decorate the walls with the solar system.
If you wnat to keep with the space idea you can also use a hot air balloon
as well. Cut out different color balloon or rockets for attendance,
offering, or Bibles brought. I am awarding them if they bring their Bible
to church. The kids could make stars mobiles, the solar system and put in
a frame,
Jeanne

11) Father's Day

For Father's Day the kids could cut out a large tie and paste their
picture on the - center cut out as a curcle. Place a special poem under
the picture and laminate. Jeanne

<>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <><

12) Creation Ideas

Why not cut out large numbers to represent each day of the week and allow
the children to paste these on a large construction paper. Provide misc.
objects that relate to each day of creation for them to glue around the
large number glued on the construction paper. For example: Cut out a large
number ONE using white construction paper . Allow the kids to glue the
letters to a blue piece of consturcin paper. Provide cotton, black
material for them to creat their own design on day and night. They may use
black markers, crayons, whilte glitter, ect.
Jeanne

13) Jesus is my Rock Theme

There is a real cute song, "Jesus is my Rock" . It goes: "Jesus is my
rock, and he rolls my blues away, bop shoo-bop a-shoo-bop, Wheeee! " It
has motions with it and would be great for kids. If you want more info,
e-mail me, and I will do my best! (Does anyone else have all the
words?)     -Lisa  laroller@sbcglobal.net

--from SSTN: it is a great song and can be found in Group's Singable
Songs. Vol. 3. You can check our out of stock dealers in our Bookstore-Music section at:

14) Father's Day

We do something special for dads every year in our congregation, too!
This year I used a template and folded a little box out of paper (each
side was about 2 1/2").  We are filling them with shelled peanuts.  I
purchased round labels and printed "God is 'nuts' about you and so are
we!  Happy Father's Day" on the computer.  Each child was then given 5
blank round labels to draw their own pictures on them such as rainbows,
crosses, hearts, etc.  We stuck the kids' labels to the remaining sides
of the box.

15) Jesus is my Rock Theme

> I would like to do an exciting Wednesday night theme centered around
>Jesus being our Rock. I will probably do it for 4 weeks. Anyone have >ideas

Hullo Angela

I have made up some Bible Game Ideas called JESUS IS THE ROCK which I am
very pleased to send you on an e-mail if you would like to contact me -
heather.mackie@paradise.net.nz
My homepage is
http://www.homepages.paradise.net.nz/heatherm
where you will see the kind of Bible Game Ideas I create. Everything is
free and can be made for nothing using cereal, or other grocery, packets
as cardboard.

Once the games have been played, the children can take them home for
further family play, if you like to organise things that way.     Also,
you could print out the ideas for children to take home and make with
family members then play the games, once they get the idea during your
activity time.

Please feel very welcome to contact me any time.
