1) Church Activity Bags?

I am wondering if anyone has an idea for kids church activity bags for during our worship services? What kind of bag? And what do they put into the bag? I would love some ideas!

Thanks so much!
Sandy DeHaan

--from SSTN: At our church we purchased lightweight muslin bags with handles. We had our two year olds paint them by placing their handprints in bright colors of acrylic paint and then pressing them on the outside of the bags. They are filled with reproducible, Christian coloring pages, a children's bulletin, and crayons. We hang them in the foyer/Narthex of the church on wooden pegged poles. The kids or parents grab the bags on the way into service. After church, we have drop-off boxes for the bags so they can be refilled during the week.

One of the resources in our site that can be used with a Children's Activity Bag is our
Children's Worship Bulletin Pictograms
, which is available on the following webpage:

Also, large muslin bags or cotton canvas bags can be found in our affiliate bookstore at:

(Use the search box to locate them)

2) Ten Commandments Game

(This game is for use with SSTN's Look n' Learn Ten Commandments Cards:
http://www.sundayschoolnetwork.com/curriculum_dwnld-ten-commandments.html

Set Up: Make three or more sets of cards 5” x 5”. Each set in its own colour. On one side have the commandment and on the other side the appropriate number of the commandment. Laminate. Place cards in coloured groups but in random order on a board attached with either blue tak or magnetic tape, numbered side up.

How to Play: Children divide into teams and choose a colour. One person in the first team chooses a number and says the corresponding commandment. If correct, remove the card from the board and move to the next team and so on. The first team to collect their set wins.

This is an extremely popular game with our children.

3) God Is Love, Heart Stamp Roller

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:7-11

4) Lent Begins February 22

The word, Lenten, is derived from an old English term for the "lengthening" of days, which occurs in Springtime. Lent is the 40 day period before Easter Sunday, excluding Sundays and a few minor variations in the church calendar. Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent.

5)
The Real Reason for Easter

Synopsis: A group of children find out what is the real reason for celebrating Easter. There are lots of fun things like rabbits and Easter eggs, but Jesus’ death, resurrection and his promise to return are the only possible reasons why we celebrate. To get "The Real Reason for Easter" skit, visit our Easter Season Skits page at:
