2) Games, crafts, promotional give away

We had a Valentine's party at our church for the youth, and I took a sheet of plywood and made a "plinko" game. (like the one on "Price is Right") When you are making this board, make sure you leave just enough space between the nails for the "plinko" chip to fall thru. I used a coaster for my "plinko" chip. The prizes at the bottom could be anything from candy, pencils, to something more expensive. The kids all loved it, and the adults even requested that it be played at our party.

3) Welcoming Idea

We have a new pastor and had a pantry shower for his family. We asked
members to bring a non-perishable food item or cleaning product. He and his
wife really appreciated this. We placed two large baskets near the altar.
When he saw them that particular Sunday, he assumed that we had a food bank
collection once-a-month and we failed to mention it to him. Imagine his
surprise when he found out they were for him!

4) Carnival Follow up

In reply to Carnival Follow up, our youth group has had a "neighborhood"
carnival for the past 4-5 years. It's always a huge success! The youth
work hard organizing this event and ask for the help of adults so it
involves the whole church. Some of our handy men in the church have
built games and the youth ask the congregation to donate prizes. The
kids get a ticket when they play the game (whether they win or lose) and
can exchange their tickets for prizes. You haven't been blessed until
you see the face of a little child trying to pick out just the right
prize. A lot of times it's for their mom or dad or other family member.
Our church is located in a somewhat lower income area and so to some of
the kids this is like a big amusement park. Some how during the day we
have some one present the gospel, either through Christian magic or by
"Mother Goose" reading a story. Some of the games are a wet sponge toss
at someone behind a board with a hole cut in it, another one is the same idea
only it has three holes cut in it and they try to get a Frisbee through the holes.
If you have any questions, just write me. This site is so much fun.
Thank you, Karen

5) Carnival follow up

Dear Dianne,
We had a carnival as the grand finale to our Bible school a couple of years
ago, and it was a real success. We gave each child a certain number of
tickets to use for the games. Children who attended Bible school every night,
brought their Bibles, memorized memory verses, and brought friends got more
tickets. They could use the tickets to buy popcorn, soda, cotton candy, and ice
cream sundaes. They could also use tickets to play the following games:
duck pond, pony rides, dunking booth, ring toss, basketball throw, sucker
pull, and a few more that I can't remember.

It was basically like a school carnival and the kids had a lot of fun. Many
church members who couldn't help with Bible School were happy to help with
the carnival.
Yours in Christ,
Theresa

6) Carnival Followup

Dianne: we just completed out annual "Day Camp" with the theme
"Under The Sea" with stories about Noah, Jonah, Jesus, Peter, etc, with all of
these people "visiting" us at story time. All our prizes were sea themed and the one thing everyone received was a facecloth (well, it is water related) with our
logo for the day camp screen printed on it. It was realatively inexpensive and the kids loved them. They plan on using them as pennants on their walls of course.
Hope this helps, Donna.

7) Gifts Of The Spirit?

This year during Kingdom Kids, our midweek program for K-4th grade,
we want to study the "Gifts of the Spirit" (From Romans 12:1-8, and 1 Corinthians ch.12.) We will be covering: Faith, wisdom & knowlege, serving, miraculous powers, encouraging, healing, building the body, mercy, giving, and evangelism. The class session is 12 weeks long and we want to do games, crafts and upbeat songs, around the above mentioned 'gifts'. Does anyone have ideas that would emphasize them? I met with the Kingdom Kid's leaders yesterday and we brainstormed some awesome ideas.
I will be sharing some of them with you in the near future. In fact, I would love to put our 12 week program into a book format for publishing. (One of the games, the Body of Christ, is already in my site on the Bible Games page.)

In the meantime, I would love to have your input for more ideas!
