Kaleidoscope Fun!

Kaleidoscopes were invented by a Scottish scientist in 1816. The word kaleidoscope is a Greek word which means "Beautiful Form Watcher". "Kalos" means beautiful, "eidos" means form, and "scopos" means watcher. Kaleidoscopes are a fascinating toy and can be used to teach children about reflecting the light of Jesus, because the light brings out the best part of a kaleidoscope.

Light and mirrors are the two main ingredients which make up a Kaleidoscope. Without light to pass through the tube and reflect off the mirrors, a kaleidoscope cannot display the wonderful forms it was intended to show.

Christians are like kaleidoscopes. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12. When Jesus is living in you, his light shines through you; only then are you able to reflect the beautiful person God intended you to be!

When you point your kaleidoscope to the light, be reminded that Jesus is the Light of the world. People are watching you, let Jesus' light shine through!
