What You Need:
2-1/2"
Styrofoam ball, 1-1/2" Styrofoam ball, wooden skewer, standard-sized coffee
filters, 7"-8" round doily, 12" gold chenille stem, 1/8" hole punch
or nail, scissors, Tacky glue, tape, knife. (You can substitute a coffee filter
for the doily.)
What You Do:
To make the body,
use the scissors to cut wooden skewer to 6-1/2" in length. With the knife,
cut the 2-1/2" Styrofoam ball in half. (If small children are making the craft,
have an adult cut the ball and skewer in advance.)
Place wooden skewer into the
center of the half-ball.
Pull skewer out and place a bead of glue over hole, reinsert skewer. Place a
coffee filter over skewer and push it through. Place another coffee filter over
skewer and push it through.
Place a piece of tape around
skewer
so that it
sticks out on both sides. Fold tape over on itself so that sticky side is
covered (the tape keeps the coffee filters in place). Place another coffee
filter over skewer and pull through. Then place tape on skewer as before.
Continue with this process (coffee filter and tape) until all six coffee filters
are added.
Fan-fold doily (or another coffee
filter). Using the hole punch or nail, make a hole at the center of the
fan-fold.
Place doily over the top of the
skewer.
Place 1-1/2" Styrofoam ball on
top of skewer.
Remove ball and place a bead of glue in hole. Reinsert ball.
Wrap the gold chenille
stem around two of your fingers to form the halo. Then, starting at the
"neck" of the angel, wrap the gold chenille stem around the ball.
Allow the stem to rise above the head (see photo, above).
Print out Bible verse (right) and
glue it to the bottom of the angel.
