The Consuming Fire

Communing With God

Don't you just love spending time in total communion with God? One on one with Him, enveloped in His presence? Times so holy, quiet, and still, that you could hear a pin drop?

Well, it is one of those life changing encounters with God that I am writing about today.

As I communed with God, in my mind's eye, I saw myself in the presence of the unseen Almighty God.

In His presence there was an intense red hot, fiery heat that should have struck me dead!

Yet, I knew in my spirit the only reason I was not burned up and consumed was because the blood of Jesus Christ within me was totally protecting me!

If you are a Christian, thoughts of God's presence, power, judgment for sin, refining, and purification may come to mind when you hear the term "The Fire of God" and you would be correct in naming those things.

When we believe in Jesus and His death, burial, and resurrection, and call upon Him to forgive our sins that we have committed against Almighty God, we receive God's salvation. Jesus forgives us and covers us with His precious blood; the blood He poured out on the cross at Calvary.

In my mind's eye, the fire I saw in my encounter with God had to do with the fire of God's judgment for sin. You and I should be ever so glad, thankful, and relieved to know that as blood-bought children of God, we've escaped the fires of damnation!

It is the most terrifying thing of all to come under the judgment of the Living God! Hebrews 10:31 (TPT)

For our God is a holy, devouring fire! Hebrews 12:29 (TPT)

For he says, I listened to you at the time of my favor. And the day when you needed salvation, I came to your aid. So can't you see? Now is the time to respond to his favor! Now is the day of salvation! 2 Corinthians 6:2 (TPT)

“I speak to you an eternal truth: if you embrace my message and believe in the One who sent me, you will never face condemnation. In me, you have already passed from the realm of death into eternal life!" John 5:24 (TPT)

Let us rejoice and be glad today if we are by faith a child of God having believed in Jesus Christ and having called upon His ultimate authority to save and forgive us our sins through His death, burial and resurrection.

If you have not yet received Jesus' sacrificial gift of salvation, but you would like to do so, then today, as you are still breathing, you have time to cry out to Him saying, "Jesus have mercy upon me a sinner. You are the only one who can save me. I believe You were crucified, buried, and risen from the dead. Please forgive my sins and cleanse me with Your blood. Make me a child of God I pray.“ Amen.
