From Trans to Transformed

How to Find Your True Identity

trans to transformed gender dysphoria

I think most people at some point in their lives have a sense that something isn't right with them. They may feel emptiness, brokenness, or a longing to be complete. This is good! This god-given awareness tells us there is something missing, there is something wrong. We discern this because we are made in God’s image and are hardwired for eternal things. This is why our sense of not being right is correct! Sadly, rather than looking to God, people tend to look to themselves to be made whole, to find their purpose, to fix their brokenness.

More recently our culture has witnessed this played out in destructive ways on a larger scale. Children and youths are being encouraged to permanently mutilate their bodies to transform their outward appearance, believing this will fix their inner turmoil of gender dysphoria.

Transgender intervention is dangerous for long term health. Yet, this alternate lifestyle is proudly promoted by corporations, with even once respected hospitals and medical professionals preying on confused children and their families to make huge profits.

You'll often hear justifications concerning atypical sexual identity as, "They were born that way." The truth is, we are all "born that way." We are all born into sin, separated from our true identity, and are considered enemies of God. Our sin alienates us from the One who created us and loves us (Romans 5:1-11).

We cannot fix ourselves. Thankfully, God has provided the solution for us.  Jesus said we must be born again (John 3:1-8). He tells us to repent and believe the good news, that is change our minds about how we think and do, and turn to him for salvation (Mark 1:15). Only through Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit, and the knowledge of God’s Word, can we be transformed from brokenness to completeness, from being God’s enemies to adoption into his family (Ephesians 1:5).

The Scripture says, "Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect" Romans 12:2.

Jesus carried our griefs and sorrows;
He was pierced for our transgressions;
He was crushed for our iniquities;
He brings us peace;
By his wounds we are healed.*

Prayer
Dear Savior Jesus, Thank you for the good news of salvation, for dying on the cross to forgive my sins, and rising from the dead to give me eternal life. May I be transformed by your power today, and may your peace rule in my heart. Help me to follow you. Amen.
