Dry, Dead Bones Halloween Outreach

with Skeleton Flip-card Gospel Tract Craft

What comes to mind when you see a skeleton? (Receive answers.)

Skeletons are a reminder that we die. Do you have any idea why everything dies? (Receive answers.) Science hasn't answered this question, but the Bible has!

The Bible teaches us that we die because we sin. Without Jesus, we are lost, dead in our trespasses and sins. What do you suppose this means? Trespasses and sins are actions or thoughts that oppose God's rules or his way of doing things. The Bible says the punishment for sinning is death—physical and spiritual death (Romans 6:23). Everyone who has ever been born, sins. This is why everything dies! And because we sin, we cannot be part of God's eternal kingdom! So what are we to do? We can't do anything, but God has done something!

A loooong time ago, before Jesus came to earth, God spoke to the prophet Ezekiel. He told him that his people were like dried up, dead bones. Let's read what God said,

Read Ezekiel 37:1-6 from a child-friendly Bible.

God promised his people that one day those dead bones would come to life—God's Holy Spirit would breathe life into them. And do you know what? Because God loves us, he sent Jesus to earth to die in our place, to take the punishment we deserve for sinning against God! The Bible says if we confess our sins to God, which is to admit we do wrong, God will forgive us, cleanse our sins, and the Holy Spirit will breathe new life into us—into our dead bones!

Read John 3:16 and 2 Corinthians 5:17 from a child-friendly Bible.

If you've never asked Jesus to be your Savior and Forever Friend, you can do so today.

Suggested prayer: "Dear Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross to take my punishment. Forgive me for sinning against you. Help me to turn from my sinful ways to follow and obey you. Thank you for giving me new life. Amen."

Scripture references: Ephesians 2:1; Romans 6:23; 1 John 1:9; Romans 10:13.
