straight, clean, crisp dollar bill or a $100 dollar bill (it
has more of an affect with the class)
the dollar and show it to the class. Ask if anyone knows what it is (of course
they're all going to have an
answer). Then ask how much is it
worth? What can I buy with it? (You will get many different answers.
One of my kids said a bicycle [I used a $100], so I went with that idea.
You can choose something from their answers to use.)
Ok, so Iím going
to buy a bike with my 100 dollars. (Crumble up the money. Make it really
wrinkled.) Then ask, "Will you still except my money now that itís
all wrinkled? well yes."
(put three small tears around the money.) Ask, "Will I still be able to buy my bike with this? Yes, I will,
you drop the money on the floor and squish it) say, 'This money has been crumpled up, stepped on, torn and ripped, but its
value remains the same. This is the same with God. No matter how torn,
ripped or stepped on you are, you are still just as valuable and as precious
in his eyes.
"The Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not look at his appearance or at his
physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not
see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord
looks at the heart.'Ē 1 Samuel 16:7 NKJV
who is saved is beautiful in Godís eyes. He made us all special and
different in many ways. As the Lord does for us, we should try to see the value
in all people. We should love as he did. Even the lost we should care
about and pray for and see the beauty in every living thing. We need
to remember God is the one who created us and made us the way we are.
hands have made me and fashioned me; give me understanding, that I may
learn your commandments." Psalm 119:73 NKJV
should not judge others but love them. How many of you know someone at
school that you know doesnít have many friends or maybe they donít
have any? Have you ever seen another child in your class at recess who
goes and plays by himself or herself? Next time you see that child, say
hi or go
play with him or her. You could find out his or her name and even invite
him or her to church. He or she is valuable too.
God does not love us because we are valuable. We are valuable because
God loves us!
