Lion Bites

Food Devotion for Children's Ministry

Object Lesson

The Bible says, ". . . the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8). When we trust Jesus to save us, we are protected from Satan, like Daniel was protected from the lions. Today, we will make a fun snack called Lion Bites. Rather than being eaten by lions, we will devour them!

What You Need: Round crackers, American Cheese in a can, thin pretzel sticks, raisins, round oat cereal, and a small plate or paper towel.

What You Do: To build the body, lay two crackers on the plate. Run a bead of cheese around the edge of the crackers. Place one pretzel horizontally on both crackers to hold the lion's body together. Place two pretzels on each cracker for the lion's legs and a pretzel for its tail. Place a small amount of cheese at the end of the tail. Top with two more crackers.

To build the head, "draw" a mane using the cheese in a can. Place a dot of cheese for the eyes, nose, and mouth. Place the raisins on the cheese for the eyes and nose. Use the cereal for the mouth and ears. Break the pretzel sticks in half and use them for the whiskers. Wedge the head between the two front body crackers. Eat and enjoy!
