2) Jesus is my Rock Theme?

I would like to do an exciting Wednesday night theme centered around Jesus
being our Rock. I will probably do it for 4 weeks. Anyone have ideas for
games & activities? I have a theme song, I just need to get ideas for fun
& learning. My age group varies but, I usually have 4-10 yr. old. Thanks,
Angela

3) Brave Believers?

Someone recently gave our small church a VBS. program called Brave
Believers. I believe it's a 2001 VBS. starter kit. Can anyone give me
feedback/ideas to use.
Thanks,Barbara   rbmatney@cox.net

7) Explaining the Trinity

Another explanation is having  pictures cut from a magazine of a male
and various other generations. (You can use a flannel board if you
want).
a.Then explain that the male is a DAD. Then add a picture of his son
or daughter.
b. Then explain that the male is a brother.  Then add a picture of his
brother or sister.
c. Then explain that the male is a son.  Then add a picture of his
parents.
(You can use coach as an option).

8) Bear Idea

I have seen Prayer Bears in catalogs.  Any teddy bear would do. As a child
tells his prayer request, he or she gets to hold the bear.  I believe
sometimes, if a child is having a very hard time with some situation, he
or she gets to take the bear home with him.
You could make clothes for the bear or even just a bib saying "Prayer
Bear" on it.

9) Outer Space Theme?

We have decided to write our own VBS material this summer.  We are doing a
theme on "Space".  The stories, skits and lessons are going well but we
are interested in ideas for the crafts with a "Outer Space" theme.  Any
suggestions are appreciated.

Terry Taylor

--from SSTN: Hi Terry, a couple of ideas come to mind:
"The Heavens declare the glory of God..." Psalm 19:1
Have kids assemble a model of the solar system.

The other idea is a game called, "Missing The Mark"
and can be found on the Bible Games page at:

10) Father's Day Gifts / Mementos?

Our church always recognizes Mothers on Mother's Day and Fathers on
Father's Day.  It's easy coming up with "inexpensive" ideas for Mothers,
but I'm at a loss for ideas for Fathers.  Flowers are not an option.  Any
ideas?   Thank you and God Bless, Janet

12) Creation Crafts

Dear SSTN,

For  the months of July and August we are preparing for teaching about the
creation days, I'm searching for crafts that we could do with the children
that represent each day of creation as we are devoting every sunday to one
specific day. I'm running out of places to search for new and easy crafts.
The ages of our children are from 4 to 12, please guide me to other sites.
You could also e-mail me at: laz75@yahoo.com
Thank you!

13) Missing Bible Verses?

I am a Sunday School teacher at a Lutheran church.  The curriculum we used
this year was Concordia "Our Life in Christ".  What I am looking for are
the Bible memory verses for the Primary students for Fall 2004 and Winter
2004.  Our church has already sent those leftover teacher books and
materials to missions.  The verses are printed in the Teacher's Guide
towards the front.  There are 13 each semester.  The reason I need this?
One of my students made it a priority to always know his Bible verse, even
when he was not at Sunday school he made sure to get the memory work.  As
a reward I wanted to put all the verses from school on a t-shirt for him.
I didn't get this idea until a couple weeks ago - hence why I didn't save
the verses from earlier.

If anyone can help it is GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks!

God Bless,
Michelle

14) Memory verses

About suggestions for memory verses:  In the past I have
printed punch cards on the computer using a buisiness card template (I use
Print Shop) with four punches.  Each time a child says a verse, s/he earns
a punch.  When the card is full, it may be redeemed for whatever reward
you are using.  This way, "slower" kids or every-other weedend kids don't
feel like they are competing or behind other like a chart with stickers
would do.

15) Beatitudes, Marketing the Gospel

Dear Kaye from Kansas try typing in Bible games in the search engine on
the net - google or dogpile are good starters. I am sure you will find
something. Good luck and God Bless.
Dawn from Jamaica

I once went to the Lord seeking His guidance as to what to share with my
Sunday School class of teenagers and He told me to tell them how to sell
His word. What He outlined were the Principles of marketing and how to
apply it. The Manager of the Organization is Jesus, the salesmen are us
Christians or believers, the organization is the Kingdom of heaven, the
competitor is Satan, the environment is the world and all the other
attractions that are copmeting for the attention of non christians. then
look in detail at the qualities that the salesmen should possess eg.
honesty, credibility. then look in details at the target which are sinners
- some tried the product and did not like it, others have never heard
about it, others hear but not ready or willing to try it etc. Remind them
that for each group or audience the strategy used must be different.

It was totally amazing how the Lord outlined that lesson to me and the
class was trilled especially those who were pursuing courses in marketing
as there were able to not only get an understanding of what it means to
share Christ with the world but help in their preparation for exams. God
is indeed a good God.
